Adobe software does in fact run in Windows7! Both CS4 and CS5 run very well in Windows7.

The answer is yes it does run! Adobe software will run in Windows 7 and that is true for cs4 and cs5 versions of the creative suite from Adobe.

If you have to remove the product you must deactivate the Adobe software first or you will not be allowed to re-install the Adobe software. Which happened on a drive failure for Adobe CS3 Photoshop and I was not allowed to re-install the software for 9 months and only on one computer. So be warned if you have a harddrive fail you may not be allowed to re-install the Adobe software on the replacement harddrive, because Adobe sees the new harddrive as a new computer. If you must remove the Adobe software for any reason you must deactivate it first!

Adobe software will run under windows 7! The new CS5 versions were designed for windows 7 and CS4 will run, but you will not get a performance boost with quad-core or higher processors. You do get the added performance with the New CS5 products.

On October 9, 2009 CS4 release was designed for both Windows XP and Vista on the pc side, because Windows 7 had not been released yet. Windows 7 has now been fully tested to work with Adobe products and it does work.

If you are having problems, I suggest you contact Adobe Support and insure you are using the lastest updates or patches from Adobe and Microsoft. Backup your work and run defrag. If you are running Vista, I say upgrade to Windows 7 you will be glad you did. Vista is a bad operating system and the sooner you put it into the past the better.

Adobe Software does run in Windows 7! That goes for both CS4 and CS5! Adobe CS5 is one well written program and I am glad, I beta tested CS5 and upgraded to it. I have it running on several computers running Windows 7 and I am happy to report no issues with Adobe Software.

The original post was from my contact with Adobe support by phone. Windows 7 has been out for a year now and it has been tested by Adobe and they made several improvements and refinements to insure Adobe products run in Windows 7.

Hmm, now you say what you're mentioning above, where does Dreamweaver store it's "root" website files? If it is in the root of the c: drive, surely that isn't best practice and is something adobe should address as the root of the file system is protected by default. If it stores the websites in your my documents area (where they should be stored), then there isn't a problem....

Can you let us know where it is storing these website files (i.e. the entire file path)?

rt66west, Use two hard drives and dual boot operating systems. You can install XP or Vista on one hd and install Windows 7 on the other. On boot up you select which os you want to run.

You have the option to buy a cd when placing your order for windows 7. Otherwise it is a download and Microsoft is saying on the download version you have a week to make it active by installing it. Otherwise your out. This was reported on my local news on several other computer news sites. Even Microsoft made a brief statement on the issue. It's no where to be found on the ordering site. It isn't in the disclaimer on the site. I think microsoft didn't want people ordering at the pre-sale price and then upselling it to others for a profit. Which would be a reason for taking this course of action to limit that from happening. It makes sense to place some limits on the pre-release pricing sale. We all will find out in the coming weeks for sure. I was hoping not to be locked out of my adobe software in the process. As I, experienced with CS3 photoshop. A harddrive failure prevented me from reinstalling Cs3 photoshop and unlocking the program, because Adobe thought it was being installed on a new computer. It took me 9 months of not being able of using the software for them to accept the fact it was a harddrive failure. But they would only unlock for one computer usage. When all others got usage rights for 2 computers, I was limited to just one. I just didn't want that experience going forward to repeat itself with my purchasing the creative suite at $1200 dollars. I can not afford to put through that again. I was hoping to avoid that issue by contacting adobe before trying to install windows 7. Since adobe will view that as a new computer install, unless there was a work around made before the launching of windows 7. In contacting adobe they stated not to run their software in windows 7 and in fact was told to run it in any other operating system instead.

I not currently running windows 7. So I can not pretest what adobe has stated. Nor can I afford to be locked out of my Cs4 creative suite. I bought backup material from microsoft on one of the two products I ordered. Which means I will have to install one version before the time runs out. I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
