Adobe states not to install windows 7 because, their products will not run and are not supported.

Adobe software does in fact run in Windows7! Both CS4 and CS5 run very well in Windows7.

The answer is yes it does run! Adobe software will run in Windows 7 and that is true for cs4 and cs5 versions of the creative suite from Adobe.

If you have to remove the product you must deactivate the Adobe software first or you will not be allowed to re-install the Adobe software. Which happened on a drive failure for Adobe CS3 Photoshop and I was not allowed to re-install the software for 9 months and only on one computer. So be warned if you have a harddrive fail you may not be allowed to re-install the Adobe software on the replacement harddrive, because Adobe sees the new harddrive as a new computer. If you must remove the Adobe software for any reason you must deactivate it first!

Adobe software will run under windows 7! The new CS5 versions were designed for windows 7 and CS4 will run, but you will not get a performance boost with quad-core or higher processors. You do get the added performance with the New CS5 products.

On October 9, 2009 CS4 release was designed for both Windows XP and Vista on the pc side, because Windows 7 had not been released yet. Windows 7 has now been fully tested to work with Adobe products and it does work.

If you are having problems, I suggest you contact Adobe Support and insure you are using the lastest updates or patches from Adobe and Microsoft. Backup your work and run defrag.  If you are running Vista, I say upgrade to Windows 7 you will be glad you did. Vista is a bad operating system and the sooner you put it into the past the better.

Adobe Software does run in Windows 7! That goes for both CS4 and CS5! Adobe CS5 is one well written program and I am glad, I beta tested CS5 and upgraded to it. I have it running on several computers running Windows 7 and I am happy to report no issues with Adobe Software.

The original post was from my contact with Adobe support by phone. Windows 7 has been out for a year now and it has been tested by Adobe and they made several improvements and refinements to insure Adobe products run in Windows 7.

Hmm, now you say what you're mentioning above, where does Dreamweaver store it's "root" website files?  If it is in the root of the c: drive, surely that isn't best practice and is something adobe should address as the root of the file system is protected by default.  If it stores the websites in your my documents area (where they should be stored), then there isn't a problem....

Can you let us know where it is storing these website files (i.e. the entire file path)?

    I'm not really sure. It's easy to attack a compay the size of Microsoft, but is it really their fault?  Their Operating System, Windows 7, does what it says on the tin.  It's better, faster, requires less resources than any of its predecessors.  I myself use Adobe products and I have Fireworks and Photoshpo and they work fine on Windows 7.  the problem comes in to play when we add additional bits, and it's then all too easy to blame the behemoth that is Microsoft.  Quite often what I do is take Windows 7 on it's own and add bits one by one - I realise not everyone can do this - but I see from testing that it isn't Microsoft - rather it's a collaboration of the IT community as a whole - to work together to ensure everything works transiently and smoothly.

    What exactly are you seeing, aside of Dreamweaver not doing what you think it should do or want it to do?

    Windows 7 was the latest and the greatest since XP, how many people like myself fell for buying Windows 7, we changed all our computers to Windows 7 in our home, like many other people have, and now we have to drop down to vista or xp again in order to use the programs we have, we need, more money spent.

    Besides Adobe software not working, how many other programs are facing the same, "not working".  Somebody is making loads of money wouldn't you say,  and nobody wants to take the blame, is it a money scam? The ball is bouncing back and forth between Windows 7 & Adobe, this is so sad, we having heard anything about a fix from either company yet, not a word.
