I just upgraded from Windows XP. There's a few features that I miss and I'm not sure if there's anyway to get them. In XP, you could have the file name appear in the corner of the picture when the screensaver was running. Really helpful for finding pics that you want to send or ID'ing the picture. Any way of getting this feature in Win7? The <arrow down> key would freeze the current picture. In Win7, it now wakes up the computer. Anyway to freeze the pics in screensaver mode? Not sure how much this is related to the screensaver, but the monitor and the computer are both set to go to sleep after 1 hour. Neither happens. Even a day or two later it's still running. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

This is a problem for me too. I upgraded from XP to 7 and miss the file names of photos. I used them to cull lousy photos (I take too many) and to identify the location of the good ones. Really miss this. Help Microsoft!!

I thought I was the only one who cared that the filename is missing in the screensaver slideshow in Win7... It's not only that: In XP, you could indicate how you wanted the slides to cover the screen. Stretch, tile, etc. In Win7 there are no options -- the image zooms to fill the screen, so you're not seeing the actual photo. I think MSFT just left all this out... there's gotta be a WinToy somewhere that offers more control of the slideshow... I'll keep looking, will report back. Meanwhile, if someone finds an answer, please post it! Thanks.

No, I didn't hear anything other than the post from Ernest. Glad to see I'm not the only one out there that appreciates the file names on the pics. I see pics going by and have no easy way to find them out of the thousands that are on my machine...... :( I did try Googles Photos Screensaver. You can't arrow back to a photo without waking up the computer and it didn't show file names. So it was not what I was looking for.

Here's the solution. Copy ssmypics.scr from your old XP machine to the Window 7 machine c:windows:system32 directory. then the old screensaver is available in settings. worked for me!
