hye..i need help with this problem..i have installed a game..and created a shortcut at the desktop..when i tried to open the program, im getting this error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item"..im running Windows Vita Home Premium with 32-bit and im the administrator..before this also got this kind of error when im trying to install BS Player on C drive..but when i tried installed it at D drive,it worked..how do i solve this problem..please help me..

Hi,

If any of the suggestions do not work for you, do the following:

1.  right click the application in question

2.  at the bottom of the properties screen (under the Advanced button)  there is a button that says "UNBLOCK"  (there should be a security message that states that this file has been copied from another computer...) 

3.  Press this button.

this worked for me.

This error can happen for several reasons; insufficient permissions, network connections, missing or corrupt files or even because a file or folder is being blocked by Windows or by your antivirus application. See the KB link in this post:

    Just change the file name to less than 8 characters! Worked like a miracle for me!!

    You said just to change the file name to less than 8 characters. What file are we talking about, is it the file we are trying to open or some batch file??

    The same message appears to me after I uninstalled IE8 using an uninstaller.

    Now, I cant open anything in "Control Panel" or using "Run" from Start menu.

    I cant open any .exe file even using "Run as".

    I cant open "Properties" of "My Computer".

    I use xp sp3 ntfs.
