Error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item"

Tony, I found your post here while searching for how to fix the same problem myself. I had installed Silhouette Studio on my wife's limited user account. The app installs for all users, and it worked when it was immediately run after the install, but run any time after that it wouldn't work - I would see the app start up in the task manager, but it would immediately disappear.

It took some investigation, but I ended up finding out that the issue was related to file permissions. If you run the program as Administrator it works fine, although that requires the admin password. I fixed this by using the SystemInternals tool ProcMon to see which files from the app it was trying to access but getting denied. I then modified the Silhouette Studio program folder permissions (and all children) to allow access, and found that I had to do the same to C:\ProgramData\boost_interprocess for some reason. I can now run the app freely under the user account without admin access.

Anyway, hope this helps you or anyone else in the same situation.
