hye..i need help with this problem..i have installed a game..and created a shortcut at the desktop..when i tried to open the program, im getting this error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item"..im running Windows Vita Home Premium with 32-bit and im the administrator..before this also got this kind of error when im trying to install BS Player on C drive..but when i tried installed it at D drive,it worked..how do i solve this problem..please help me..

Hi,

If any of the suggestions do not work for you, do the following:

1.  right click the application in question

2.  at the bottom of the properties screen (under the Advanced button)  there is a button that says "UNBLOCK"  (there should be a security message that states that this file has been copied from another computer...) 

3.  Press this button.

this worked for me.

This error can happen for several reasons; insufficient permissions, network connections, missing or corrupt files or even because a file or folder is being blocked by Windows or by your antivirus application. See the KB link in this post:

    Just change the file name to less than 8 characters! Worked like a miracle for me!!

    I got this message after recent malware infection, and it persisted even after I got the malware off.  After seeing that the error was NOT happening with other admin accounts on my machine (Win XP SP3), I decided to try repairing just my user profile using files from a 2 month old backup.  Thankfully, everything worked again after replacing just the following files and nothing else.  I'm not sure which of these fixed the issue:

    ntuser.dat

    ntuser.dat.log

    ntuser.ini
