hye..i need help with this problem..i have installed a game..and created a shortcut at the desktop..when i tried to open the program, im getting this error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item"..im running Windows Vita Home Premium with 32-bit and im the administrator..before this also got this kind of error when im trying to install BS Player on C drive..but when i tried installed it at D drive,it worked..how do i solve this problem..please help me..

Hi,

If any of the suggestions do not work for you, do the following:

1.  right click the application in question

2.  at the bottom of the properties screen (under the Advanced button)  there is a button that says "UNBLOCK"  (there should be a security message that states that this file has been copied from another computer...) 

3.  Press this button.

this worked for me.

This error can happen for several reasons; insufficient permissions, network connections, missing or corrupt files or even because a file or folder is being blocked by Windows or by your antivirus application. See the KB link in this post:

    Guys I Found a solution..

    First you need AVG

    then click on AVG Icon and after that.. Click on tools>>>>Advance Settings>>>Anti-Virus>>>resident shield>>>excluded items/exception..

    Then after that click on add path.. Choose the path that doesn't open..

    Then click add file.. choose the file that doesn't open

    I know you wrote this like forever ago but you have helped me alot thank you. Now if I had looked you up earlier this could have saved me 30 min or going crazy

    For those of us who can't get to the control panel or even start explorer, you SHOULD be able to run MSCONFIG.

    So ctrl+alt+delete your way to the task manager, and choose File> Run and type in "msconfig" and hit enter

    On the first tab, choose "Diagnostic Startup" and reboot your machine. This should at least get you to the basic desktop with most programs and items disabled. This will also disable your network connection, so you may need to return to this menu and turn it back on at a later time.

    You can also choose "Safe boot" under the second tab over titled "Boot" and enable Network here.
