hye..i need help with this problem..i have installed a game..and created a shortcut at the desktop..when i tried to open the program, im getting this error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item"..im running Windows Vita Home Premium with 32-bit and im the administrator..before this also got this kind of error when im trying to install BS Player on C drive..but when i tried installed it at D drive,it worked..how do i solve this problem..please help me..

Hi,

If any of the suggestions do not work for you, do the following:

1.  right click the application in question

2.  at the bottom of the properties screen (under the Advanced button)  there is a button that says "UNBLOCK"  (there should be a security message that states that this file has been copied from another computer...) 

3.  Press this button.

this worked for me.

This error can happen for several reasons; insufficient permissions, network connections, missing or corrupt files or even because a file or folder is being blocked by Windows or by your antivirus application. See the KB link in this post:

    thank you for the reply.....im the administrator..i have no other account in my windows..i had turn off the UAC..but i still got the error msg..i just uninstalled the game an reinstalled it..but now i get this error msg..

    Unable to execute file:

    C:\Program Files\********\***.exe

    ShellExecuteEx failed; code 5.

    Access is denied.

    what is this mean?

    Hello Mahyud,

    This problem usually on the computers.Now try this.

    My Computer--->right click on C drive--->properties--->in the upper tab there is security tab click on that

    After doing this,In security tab there is Groups& Users ---> administrator ----> Permissions ....Give full acess to administrator means that check all the allow except of special permission....

    this is becoz of ur environment variables.I think u install something and some of the files was missing so now u go to ur computer properties...

    My Computer----->Properties--->Go to Advance Setting--->environmental variables --->Check it or match with somebody else computer or ur desktop

    Rather than this sometimes this is becoz of system 32 files there is one file by this name shellexecuteEX check is it there...

    On thing more u can do is that

    Go TO My Computer---> Then Go to properties of ur hard disk --->Security--->give full permission to adminstrator & which you want to give then apply ok then check
