Hey Shinder,

Make sure that you follow the steps below to give full control:

Let’s try giving permissions to the drive and check

Right-click the drive and select Properties.

Click on the Security tab.

Click Advanced in the lower right.

In the Advanced Security Settings window that pops up, click on the Owner tab.

Click Edit.

Click Other users or groups.

Click Advanced in the lower left corner.

Click Find Now.

Scroll through the results and double-click on your current user account.

Click OK to all of the remaining windows except the first Properties window.

Select your user account from the list up top and click Edit.

Select your user account from the list up top again and then in the pane below, check Full control under Allow, or as much control as you need.

You’ll get a security warning, click Yes.

Also check in Disk management whether it is showing up or not. If yes, right click on the drive and format it.

  1. Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  2. In the Navigation pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.
  3. Right-click the volume that you want to format, and then click Format.
  4. To format the volume with the default settings, in the Format dialog box, click OK, and then click OK again.

Hi,

this drive comes from AppV. Did you install the Click and Run version of Office 2010 Beta (for example Starter Edition)?

Dear Chuknit, 1) So the only chance I have to create an image is when I activate Windows for the first time? 2) My Q drive shows as "local disk" when select myPC, but it does not show in disk management. Thank you.

As far as I know if you don't have an image or it is bad like if it says image is missing or corrupt you're S.O.L. Unless you have back UPS on removable storage. You should have back UPS on disk because every computer prompts you to make back up sets when you start it and that process shouldn't be skipped. I had to restore mine to factory via the set of 7 system image disks I made when I got my laptop because going to windows10 or reverting back to windows7 from 10 erased my back up/ hard drive partition which also was reinstated by my system image disks. My question was whether local disk Q was that hard drive/ back up partition or if I understood correctly, and Local diskQ was a partition that only pertained to office starter and since I did not reinstall/ reactivate office starter after using my image disks and hadn't done that before those creating those image disks is why I no longer have a local diskQ?

What if I don't have an image? Is there a way to create a good image now?
