whenever I go to update Windows 7 my new laptop freezes and the computer ends up not responding. Whenever I try to open my computer, documents, control panel or search the following error message appears The remote procedure call failed and did not execute

Hi aaabbbcccdddeeefffggg,

Try the following steps :

Type Services into the start menu search box.

In Services, scroll down to "Remote Procedure Call" and make sure the status says "Started"

and set to Automatic.

The second "RPC Locator" should be set to "Manual".

If the issue persists, as a workaround you may perform an online scan on your computer and check if the error message is caused due to malware or any virus.

Now visit the below provided link to perform an online scan on your computer.

Later try installing updates and check.

    I am having this same issue with explorer. It will intermittently not open and display the 

    The remote procedure call failed and did not execute error. I have tried both scans recommended above.

    As well as:

    • re-registering the kernel32.dll
    • checking the RPC features in services are correctly set
    • restarting the computer
    • checking for viruses and Malware with alternative up to date software
    • checking that Windows is fully up to date inc. hardware drivers

    There are also issues with explorer often not showing files in explorer before this issue started to occur. Indexing on the main hdd is turned off, but it is a high performance SSD. I have tried switching it on also.

    Internet searches reveal that explorer not showing files and continuously showing the green bar/discovering items is a common Win7 error.

    Please let me know what I can do next, because this error is making it impossible to use my computer for what I need it for.

    Hi,

    I am having the same problems but I am unable to access the System File Checker as I am not able to do anything in the start menu.

    I just wrote a post but I can't find it so I will tell you what is happening.

    I have windows 7 home premium 64bit. I noticed the problem shortly after I began the recommended windows updates. There were a lot of updates but here are the ones that I saw in the installed list.

    1. microsoft codec pack x 86.msi
    2. microsoft codec pack amd 64.msi

    I also installed an update for shockwaveinstallerslim.exe and uninstalled the following

    1. wlset.up-web.exe(not sure why)
    2. N360Downloader.exe(this was the trial version and I have N360 installer for the year)

    I first saw problems with not being able to Shut down the computer. Then not being able to use the Action Center. Then the task manager stopped working,  Then not being able to access any of my folders in the Start menu(Library, Music, etc) and when I clicked on them I would receive the error message "The remote procedure call failed and did not execute"

    I tried all of the solutions but I am unable to open action center or do anything in the start menu, including typing anything in search. I am able to download antivirus programs but they will not run.

    I ran a full scan on Norton yesterday and it said it fixed 4 cookies.

    Dear Sir,

    when we open my computer,my docement, any pdf file then it's giving

    the remote procedure call failed and did not execute

    i have tryied to start from services.msc

    The second "RPC Locator" should be set to "Manual".

    these services is already started

    How can fix please suggest me urgent.
