Hi aaabbbcccdddeeefffggg,

Try the following steps :

Type Services into the start menu search box.

In Services, scroll down to "Remote Procedure Call" and make sure the status says "Started"

and set to Automatic.

The second "RPC Locator" should be set to "Manual".

If the issue persists, as a workaround you may perform an online scan on your computer and check if the error message is caused due to malware or any virus.

Now visit the below provided link to perform an online scan on your computer.

Later try installing updates and check.

I'm also having the same issue...both settings for "Remote Procedure Call" and "RPC Locator" were already showing the right settings. I'm performing an online scan but so far, no infections indicated...I still cannot access any of my folders (applications are okay, but my folders have much needed finals research on them)...help please!

     Hi JessiePearey,

    • Have you tried System File Checker scan as suggested in my previous post?
    • When you say "cannot access any of my folders” which folders are you referring to?
    • What is the error message received when you try to access the folders?

Please provide us more information on the issue so that we can assist you better.

    Thanks!
