whenever I go to update Windows 7 my new laptop freezes and the computer ends up not responding. Whenever I try to open my computer, documents, control panel or search the following error message appears The remote procedure call failed and did not execute

Hi aaabbbcccdddeeefffggg,

Try the following steps :

Type Services into the start menu search box.

In Services, scroll down to "Remote Procedure Call" and make sure the status says "Started"

and set to Automatic.

The second "RPC Locator" should be set to "Manual".

If the issue persists, as a workaround you may perform an online scan on your computer and check if the error message is caused due to malware or any virus.

Now visit the below provided link to perform an online scan on your computer.

Later try installing updates and check.

    What, if anything, lead you to do a security scan such that the security scan was proven to be the final resolution?

    It would be nice if Microsoft would inform us paying customers why it decided not to volunteer a security scan as a final resolution, as opposed to Microsoft deciding to leave its customers in its technological ****.

    I got to thinking about this more.

    I run a full scan of Windows Defender weekly.

    Was your security scan a Windows Defender security scan?

    If no then what security scan did you run?  What did the security scan do to resolve the root cause problem?

    If yes then can you speculate as to why your solution did not work for me?  Yeah, I am grasping at straws here.

    You know, if Mr. Nadella had to do to his Toyota to make it run like what we have to do to Windows 10 to make it run then Mr. Nadella would be seen quite frequently walking across Redmond to work.  

    "OH, so your Toyota won't run over 35 MPH?  Huh.  Huh. Huh.  Huh.  Well, did you try checking the thing-a-ma-bobber under the do hickey, just crossing your fingers and grabbing your a$$ hoping that to be a solution?  And, you do know, don't you, that an automobile is a complex machine and this is a new model so YOU should have expected countless problems that would leave you stranded on the highway, and that's A-OK Fine, Peachy Keen and Hunky Dory.  You did't really buy this care to drive it, now did you?  No Sir!  You bought this car so that you can repair it, daily.  By the way, your next car payment is due."
