whenever I go to update Windows 7 my new laptop freezes and the computer ends up not responding. Whenever I try to open my computer, documents, control panel or search the following error message appears The remote procedure call failed and did not execute

Hi aaabbbcccdddeeefffggg,

Try the following steps :

Type Services into the start menu search box.

In Services, scroll down to "Remote Procedure Call" and make sure the status says "Started"

and set to Automatic.

The second "RPC Locator" should be set to "Manual".

If the issue persists, as a workaround you may perform an online scan on your computer and check if the error message is caused due to malware or any virus.

Now visit the below provided link to perform an online scan on your computer.

Later try installing updates and check.

    Hello 

    Here my system not showing any of the windows apps like photos,mail and camera etc and if i use to open any photo it's showing "remote procedure call failed". And i am unable to find other app tiles in start menu except desktop,paint,wordpad and other installed apps.Even i have tried the following procedure

     After that i am also unable to open persnalization page. While no any virus and malwares are here in my system. I have already installed latest quick heal total security.

    PS. Help me to overcome these problems. It's windows 8

    No problem. I personally find Win8 the most stable and perfect version ever. Even the design doesn't bother me anymore.

    I agree...  things were better before W10 upgrade.  works for a while then quits - undependable OS here.  need to find online repair utility not a system reset please

    When I went to services to fix the problem, I rebooted my laptop and found that I was able to access my files again, however, my internet access and USB ports were disabled. I had to go to the bios and re enable them. I absolutely hate windows 10 and I'm glad I downgraded back to windows 8 XD

    I cannot properly downgrade to W7  but I can upgrade to Linux - very tempting if the WINE emulator in the most up to date distributions can run my top Windows-based applications.  The ONLY reason why I stick with Windows is for the current insufficiency in Linux - hopefully Microsoft will smarten up or lose me and everyone else I can drag with me for ever.   I have never in my long experience with Windows or Linux systems ever had to reinstall a complete OS to repair minor problems.  I pity those poor souls that are at the mercy of unscrupulous repair shops when something goes wrong.   To Microsoft:  get off your butts and fix it right the first time - you are only justifying the hatred for Microsoft products when you pass off this shoddy W10 junk as a good progression in computer technology.

    Windows 10 was regaled as "the most tested version of Windows ever".

    Thank goodness!

    Given how **** poor it works, how would our lives be if Microsoft had tested it like they tested Vista?

    All that testing and still it is junk.
