The remote procedure call failed and did not execute

whenever I go to update Windows 7 my new laptop freezes and the computer ends up not responding. Whenever I try to open my computer, documents, control panel or search the following error message appears The remote procedure call failed and did not execute

Hi aaabbbcccdddeeefffggg,

Try the following steps :

Type Services into the start menu search box.

In Services, scroll down to "Remote Procedure Call" and make sure the status says "Started"

and set to Automatic.

The second "RPC Locator" should be set to "Manual".

If the issue persists, as a workaround you may perform an online scan on your computer and check if the error message is caused due to malware or any virus.

Now visit the below provided link to perform an online scan on your computer.

Later try installing updates and check.

    What, if anything, lead you to do a security scan such that the security scan was proven to be the final resolution?

    It would be nice if Microsoft would inform us paying customers why it decided not to volunteer a security scan as a final resolution, as opposed to Microsoft deciding to leave its customers in its technological ****.

    umm...hey ananya.i am not a techie guy (bear with me) but the problem was resolved when i performed an ordinary security scan.

    I installed a program, a few days later I went to remove it and when I try to open control panel I get "The remote procedure call failed".  I have set the Remote Procedure Call and Remote Procedure Locator to "Automatic".  I verified that DCOM Server Process Launcher is at "Automatic", and verified that RPC Endpoint Mapper is "Automatic".   I have scanned with PC Matic and it cleans.  Still no Luck.  Windows 10

    I am unable to do the setting on Remote Procedure Call

    I cannot access Control Panel because the error prevents me from getting in.

    I had a disaster with a company holding themselves out as "Microsoft Certified."  I learned from MS that this is not true.  Be careful with any 3rd party software.  I checked out the ratings and they were not good
