The remote procedure call failed and did not execute

whenever I go to update Windows 7 my new laptop freezes and the computer ends up not responding. Whenever I try to open my computer, documents, control panel or search the following error message appears The remote procedure call failed and did not execute

Hi aaabbbcccdddeeefffggg,

Try the following steps :

Type Services into the start menu search box.

In Services, scroll down to "Remote Procedure Call" and make sure the status says "Started"

and set to Automatic.

The second "RPC Locator" should be set to "Manual".

If the issue persists, as a workaround you may perform an online scan on your computer and check if the error message is caused due to malware or any virus.

Now visit the below provided link to perform an online scan on your computer.

Later try installing updates and check.

    Hi, when I type in services, I get to where it should be with the error "MMC could not create this snap-in, it has not been installed correctly." I should mention I am just trying to get my settings to open successfully. Using Windows 10 Home.

    Nadeem what if you cant even log into the computer? You get a sign into windows page but it wont even log on

    This is the only fix I found that works.. got to the 5th post and follow the link and it allows you to view your pictures.

    That was my problem, dont know about the other remote control problems.
