Error message "Revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. Do you want to proceed? [Yes] [No] [View certificate]

For some time I have been receiving the dialog box containing "Security Alert 'Revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. Do you want to proceed? [Yes] [No] [View certificate]' ." I know that many, if not all, of the sites are OK as I have used them multiple times in the past.

I have tried various "fixes" found by Googling "revocation information" and nothing fixes the problem--what ever it is.

When I try to do various updates, not related to this problem, I am not allow to download the updates because of a security problem.

Any suggestions for a computer challenged user? Thanks.

    Hi Elizabeth, thanks for the reply.

    I'll follow your suggestions - I had tried the things suggested in the brighthub article, but to no avial (I also find that most of these articles are more relating to the message popping up on opening a secure page, whereas ours happens every boot).

    Interestingly, this is happening on most (if not all) of our Windows 7 machines, and also on our Terminal Server sessions running on an externally hosted Windows Server 2008 - both scenarios have very different programs running at startup, so it's strange there is something like this happening.

    I'll let you know how I get on!
