Error message "Revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. Do you want to proceed? [Yes] [No] [View certificate]

For some time I have been receiving the dialog box containing "Security Alert 'Revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. Do you want to proceed? [Yes] [No] [View certificate]' ." I know that many, if not all, of the sites are OK as I have used them multiple times in the past.

I have tried various "fixes" found by Googling "revocation information" and nothing fixes the problem--what ever it is.

When I try to do various updates, not related to this problem, I am not allow to download the updates because of a security problem.

Any suggestions for a computer challenged user? Thanks.

    Check your system proxy, it may have been modified.

    From an elevated command prompt;

    netsh winhttp show proxy

    My issue was that it showed "Proxy Server(s) : None" - For a network that you use automatically detect proxy, it should show "Direct Access (no proxy server".

    To import your proxy settings from IE, run the following:

    netsh winhttp import proxy source=ie

    Many thanks for this link, it solved a multitude of problems I was having accessing various websites as well as my emails. Within a few minutes of following the link I came across a sentence which read that something as simple as the wrong time and date on my browser could be the cause of the problems. Lo and behold, when I checked the date on my laptop it was 17th August instead of 17th July. Problem/s solved. Thank you.
