Error message "Revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. Do you want to proceed? [Yes] [No] [View certificate]

For some time I have been receiving the dialog box containing "Security Alert 'Revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. Do you want to proceed? [Yes] [No] [View certificate]' ." I know that many, if not all, of the sites are OK as I have used them multiple times in the past.

I have tried various "fixes" found by Googling "revocation information" and nothing fixes the problem--what ever it is.

When I try to do various updates, not related to this problem, I am not allow to download the updates because of a security problem.

Any suggestions for a computer challenged user? Thanks.

    This was very helpful thank you. This has been bothering me too for the last month. I don't know why it just started happening after using my laptop for 3 years.

    But I went into the Tools option on the internet tools bar and did it that way. Advance button and then scrolled down to Untick the box ' Check for Publisher's Revocation'

    I have this exact same problem, which drives me crazy because I can't close the box or get rid of it in anyway whatsoever off my screen, even if I go ahead and install the certificate, I still can't get rid of the box, and am forced to shut down my computer. I tried your solution, and unchecked the appropriate box, but I'm still getting the Revocation Certificate box when I open my email. I have had no choice but to unsubscribe from the particular page. Unless there are any other tips you can offer for getting rid of these annoying certificate boxes?

    In my case, uninstalling McAfee WebAdvisor did the trick. Use the Windows Control Panel  --> <Programs and Features> --> <Uninstall or change a program> to uninstall this software component.
