Error message "Revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. Do you want to proceed? [Yes] [No] [View certificate]

For some time I have been receiving the dialog box containing "Security Alert 'Revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. Do you want to proceed? [Yes] [No] [View certificate]' ." I know that many, if not all, of the sites are OK as I have used them multiple times in the past.

I have tried various "fixes" found by Googling "revocation information" and nothing fixes the problem--what ever it is.

When I try to do various updates, not related to this problem, I am not allow to download the updates because of a security problem.

Any suggestions for a computer challenged user? Thanks.

    You should check with your IT dept before you reconfigure your proxy server. Business' set a proxy server for all their workstations.

    I found this website of interest because of this line:

    Other reasons for the security alert are that your computer time or date is set incorrectly or the browser is configured to automatically detect a proxy server settings but no proxy server is configured.

    I am using a computer that I use at work where we have a proxy server.  Generally, it doesn't seem to matter if the proxy server is enabled when I am away from work, but maybe this is one case where it does matter.

    I have removed the proxy configuration and will see how it goes...
