For some time I have been receiving the dialog box containing "Security Alert 'Revocation information for the security certificate for this site is not available. Do you want to proceed? [Yes] [No] [View certificate]' ." I know that many, if not all, of the sites are OK as I have used them multiple times in the past.
I have tried various "fixes" found by Googling "revocation information" and nothing fixes the problem--what ever it is.
When I try to do various updates, not related to this problem, I am not allow to download the updates because of a security problem.
Any suggestions for a computer challenged user? Thanks.
Richard

OK, will check back, however if the above suggestions do not work, I suggest you post in the Windows 7 forum, link is below, this is the XP forum. :)

Hi Elizabeth, thanks for the reply.
I'll follow your suggestions - I had tried the things suggested in the brighthub article, but to no avial (I also find that most of these articles are more relating to the message popping up on opening a secure page, whereas ours happens every boot).
Interestingly, this is happening on most (if not all) of our Windows 7 machines, and also on our Terminal Server sessions running on an externally hosted Windows Server 2008 - both scenarios have very different programs running at startup, so it's strange there is something like this happening.
I'll let you know how I get on!
Cheers

did you read the thread here:
http://www.brighthub.com/internet/security-privacy/articles/82291.aspx
there is obviously something at startup that should be updated or uninstalled
AUTORUNS
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902
I would scrutinize what you have loading on StartUp. You need to see if you have programs loading during boot process which might be changed to on demand.
With Autoruns you can uncheck an item, which disables it from starting, or you can right click an item and then delete it. If you uncheck you can recheck to re-enable the item. It is a much safer approach than editing the Registry and better than using msconfig.
Another useful feature of the program is that you can right click an item and select Search Online to get information about the item selected.
When using Autoruns you will need to click on the "Logon" tab to see what is running at start-up.
Not really, because in my case I like security.
Disabling these checks leaves you wide open to attack - which is bad enough for home users who bank online etc, but worse so for businesses - of which many in this thread are!
Has anybody found a fix?
EDIT: as in, one that stops the constant error-on-startup but keeps the security in place.
At my work, I'm getting this problem on every login, yet at home running the same level of security I don't get it at all.
