Your power plan information isn't available. Can't edit/delete/etc. Power Plans.

"Your power plan information isn't available."  I have tried to:

Delete Registy Values for PowerSettings (HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\control\power\powersettings)

Import PowerSettings from another computer (HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\control\power\powersettings).

Manually Delete all but the three main Power Plans using powercfgCommand line typing powercfg /RestoreDefaultPoliciesCreating an new User AccountChecking Windows Update and I am completely up to date.

None of these work. 

Someone suggested getting the PowerSettings from another user -?-

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you own a Samsung laptop, disable the 'fast start' feature search for 'fast' in the search bar. I had the exact same problem now it works fine i have control over my power settings.

System

Windows 7 Home 32-bit

Also, did you try running the following command from an "elevated" command prompt, to set all default power plans back to default settings:

Start > type cmd.exe in the "Search programs and files" box, then right-click cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

Then, at the command prompt, type the following and press "Enter":

powercfg -restoredefaultschemes

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers. 

I have few steps that might fix the issue.

·    To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps: 

1.      Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.

 2.      Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue

3.      At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow

·         If this does not work, then follow these steps:

            1.      Run regedit from Administrator account.

                      a.       Click on start, type regedit in start search box and press Enter. 

           2.      Download PSTools PsTools

           3.      Extract from this psexec.exe and place it in C:\Windows\System32 

           4.      Run cmd.exe with administrative privileges

                    a.       Click on start, type cmd in start search box and press Enter.

           5.      Now,  type:  psexec -s -i -d regedit 

          6.      Next choose File>>Import :choose my *.reg file and click on apply. 

          7.      Restart computer

    How I fixed....It’s a computer miracle my Power Savings settings screen has restored to the default state...it again allows me to create new options .... change a plan and delete custom plans.

    Back story...I searched these answers and found way to much information...I didn’t want to get drastic and restore back to an earlier arrangement...And a registry review did not show anything obvious...

    Then I found this...

    Click Start Button

    Locate cmd.exe

    Right click on cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator

    At the command prompt enter PowerCfg**–** RestoreDefaultSchemes

    Being the master of my windows 7 home premium domain I opened up the cmd prompt and added the above PowerCfg string then restarted...the fix did not do anything at first (except delete the non working custom schemes I had created), however as is with windows, after a couple of power downs (read nights) I checked my power settings. Shazam the settings screen was restored back to the default state.

    One note I will add....though it is not official fact .... With W7 I have found that power savings & screen savers don’t mix perfectly...that is to say I found that I had to reboot after long idle periods, the other option was to wait 10 minutes and the operation restored, maybe. To make a long story short if you want power savings leave the screen saver set to none.

    I just ran Roxio Creator 2010 and applied the updates when the update warning came up and it fixed it. I'm guessing Microsoft issued some kind of security update  and Roxio had to update their product to comply.

    Thanks to your efforts I knew exactly what to do. Thank you for posting after you discoverd the solution.
