I am receiving duplicate emails in my windows mail inbox. How can I stop this?

With further testing, I am NOT buying this line of thought that it is the "blame all" Antivirus app  that is causing this problem of getting duplicate emails (downloaded at the same time) with MS "Live Mail"!! And here is my proof -

My wife and I each have brand new notebooks, here's an HP and mine an MSI, both came preloaded with Windows 7, Live Mail and in neither case did we activate or use the 90 day Norton AV. In both cases, I uninstalled Norton immediately and installed on both AVG Free (same version), just as I do for many of my clients (I am an IT hardware consultant).

She has three of four email accounts she uses regularly and as I do. With AVG Free, all scanning modules  active on both notebooks, her notebook does NOT download duplicate emails. On mine it does.

I've turn email scanning on and off and on and off and it makes no difference, Live Mail downloads duplicates most of the time.

As far as I am concerned this is a bug in Live Mail, since I've noticed also that mine is slow to delete, mark as SPAM, move, etc. emails and on her system, this is not the case (my MSI has a 2.6ghz Core2Duo, her's a 1.8ghz AMD Dual Core, so it is not a processing issue).

So, perhaps uninstalling Live Mail and reinstalling is a solution? Can this be done with Win 7??

Of course I'd just rather have just plain Windows Mail; or better yet Outlook or even Outlook Express!!! NEVER any problems like this with either of those email clients!

1: Windows Live Mail can be removed in the Control Panel. It is listed as Windows Live Essentials. Back up any messages first.

2: You can run Windows Mail in Win7.

First, you need access to a Vista machine.

On the Win7 machine, find the "Windows Mail" folder in Program Files. Rename it to "OldWindows Mail" as a precaution.

Using a Flash or CD, copy the "Windows Mail" folder in its entirety from the Vista machine.

Go back to the Win7 machine and copy the "Windows Mail" from the Flash or CD to a location in Program Files.

Open it and right click on the WinMail.exe file and send a shortcut to the Desktop. Done.

A few caveats: EML and NWS files will not open in WinMail, but rather another e-mail client that you will need to have. WinMail also cannot be made the default mail or news client.
