I am receiving duplicate emails in my windows mail inbox. How can I stop this?

My Windows Mail emails arrive in twos.....each email is delivered two times. Any suggestions as to how to stop this?

Only speculations :

  1. You have 2 identical e-mail accounts. Open Windows Mail > Tools > Accounts. See 2 identical accounts ?
  2. Your anti-virus program has an e-mail scanning action which causes havoc. It is wise to disable that scanning option.

Tools | Accounts | Mail Section. Any chance you have the same account listed twice?

    Do you not see the Menu Bar? The Alt button will temporally enable the Menu Bar, or click on the Menus button to the left of the Help button and enable the Menu Bar.

    Or are you actually using Windows  Live  Hotmail?  (Not the same program).

    While this solution (turn off Email scanning) does appear to work to solve the duplicate email downloads, how in the ____ are you supposed to be protected from inbound virus, etc. in emails!!??  This seems like a rather short sighted solution and one that leave anyone horrible vulnerable .... kind of like leaving your front door wide open in a burgler infected neighborhood, just so you you don't have unlock it for yourself!!

    This frankly sounds like a big FLAW in Windows 7!! (I've seen this duplicate emails problem with Norton and AVG, so don't blame the AV companies)

    This would be kind of tough since Windows Live Mail does NOT have any of these setting!! "Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Advanced" is a menu only OE had and OE will not run on Windows 7!

    Where did you get that idea ?

    I have been using Windows Live Mail for 3 years. Of cousre there is such a setting.

    Open WLM > Tools > Accounts > highlight the user's e-mail account > Properties > Advanced.
