Why does Windows 7 have typing problems?

I have the same problem as everyone else never had this problem before installing windows 7.  I believe we need a better answer than it is not a windows 7 bug.

I signed up here just so I could let the 'powers that be' know that there is indeed a Windows7 typing problem.  I have friends on other forums that have been asking for help with typing issues (one has to type everything in Notepad and then copy and paste) and I have had my own issues that have me completely frustrated.

While typing my caplocks will go on unexpectedly, or a letter I'm typing will take off and type itself over and over again without me touching the keys (ie - the quck brown foxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx....).  I have to hit any key to make it stop and then backspace. (has happened 7 times in 3 weeks) 

While using my PaintShopProXI, the pointer acted as though I had the SHIFT key depressed and refused to select just one file to open and kept selecting all files in the folder (happen the one and only time I opened this program).

This happens everytime I type on the internet:  When I'm in a reply box, I type fine (like right now) but as I get down near the bottom of the box, the typing continues but the box does not show me what I'm typing and the rest of the text is hidden as I type it.

This is a 4 week old HP 64bit Windows home premium p6320y.  I have only been connected to the internet for 1 week and the problem happened right out of the box so it wasn't a virus. (I had a week before I even unpacked it).

My problem is that HP tech support wants me to take my computer back with System Recovery which means alot of work to reinstall all my GBs of work and I don't think it will fix my problem.  (the same work that is on my old Dell XP that runs just fine)  They just don't know what else to do.

I'm at the bottom here and no problem with this Reply box window.  The reply box at the site before this one did have the problem.  Is there different kinds of reply boxes?

I was recently plagued by the notorious and ubiquitous “jumping cursor anomaly” when I purchased an ASUS laptop computer (model K601-RBBBR05) with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit pre-installed. I also installed Office Professional 2007. I DEFINITELY BELIEVE THAT WINDOWS 7 IS THE CULPRIT!  I purchased the ASUS laptop as a portable extension of my home office-based server with wireless network, which accommodates three other family members’ PCs. All of the computers on the network operate on Windows XP SP3 and operate quite smoothly. To make matters worse, I took the new laptop to a new client appointment the day after purchase and had a miserable time with the wandering cursor, which made me look quite idiotic in front of the client.

I am having constant cursor position jumping problems on the ASUS laptop when composing documents; and even on this site as I type! The ASUS is a very good computer. Again, I am certain Windows 7 is the problem that has totally undermined my productivity. If I don’t type continuously at lightning speed, the cursor repositions itself all over the document. The result is that I find entire sentence fragments that I typed have been positioned in other areas of the document. Even more annoying, I find that complete sections of the document have been deleted, requiring an attempt at recovery using the undo function. Unfortunately that just takes me back to where I was in composing the document several minutes prior. In between the lightening fast typing, I have to frequently save the document for fear of losing major portions. The cursor will even jump up into the header or footer sections while typing the body text of my document! I have even had the document jump to other open applications, including Internet Explorer, while typing a Word document. This is extremely frustrating! In fact, I had to laboriously hack out my draft of this post in Word while having to correct errors and text loss due to the unpredictable and uncontrollable cursor migration.

I have tried all of the suggested fixes suggested by Microsoft software engineers on this site, and I am still stuck with this problem. I am considering having the laptop completely reimaged with XP in place of Windows 7, even though Windows 7 is supposed to be much more stable.

I COULD HAVE KNOCKED-OUT THIS POST ON MY OLD ROYAL TYPEWRITER WITHOUT A TYPO IN A COUPLE OF MINUTES. INSTEAD, IT HAS TAKEN ME ABOUT 30 MINUTES TO HACK-OUT THIS POST IN WINDOWS 7!

MICROSOFT, OR SOMEBODY, PLEASE HELP.

It is *not* Windows 7 that is the problem. Almost certainly, the

problem is caused simply by your accidentally brushing your hand

against the touch pad as you type.

And that's pretty strong confirmation that what I said above is

correct.

If this problem resumes, most likely your issue is the sensitivity of your touchpad. To resolve this issue, you'll need to take a look at your touchpad options.  I like to disable the Tap option and raise the PalmCheck sensitivity option.   These are the first options I change when I get a new laptop; otherwise I have the very same problem.  I'm betting the problem with then disappear.
