Why does Windows 7 have typing problems?

It is likely that you are accidentally hitting the touchpad with your

hand while typing. Install a mouse and turn off the touchpad.

Thank you very much indeed for your advice, Ken, and everyone. I paid attention to my hand movements, and realised that I have been inadvertently touching the mouse pad. I downloaded Touchfreeze, and now I am able to work again without any interruptions. Cheers!

I changed from XP, where you can go into control panel, select mouse in hardware, and then check a little box that allows you to disable the touch-pad during typing. This box is not there on Vista or Windows 7, and on both I suffered this infuriating jumping from place to place, as I typed. Downloading the little free Touchfreeze program eliminated the problem. It does the same job, automatically, in the background. The relief is heaven! I hope it works for you all!
