Why does Windows 7 have typing problems?

It does work! It works in a way that lets you choose to get special

international characters, like ь, с, з, etc.

But if you want such characters, there are much easier ways to get

them. I use and recommend a little freeware background program called

AllChars. This lets me type many common special characters (many of

these are used in other languages) very easily, by pressing the ctrl

key followed by a two character mnemonic combination.

For example, for с the two characters are ~ and n. For з it's c and ,

For ь it's u and "

I have asimilar but different problem.  I am using a Dell Dimension E310 desktop which came with XP home installed.  I have recently upgraded to Window 7 and I am about to throw this system away.  My XP was better.  Any how, my problem while similar is this:  When I am in a box which is supposed to accept input such as when you need to enter a name or a password, the cursor does not moves, you end up typing in the same place all of the time and you are unable to enter the information you need.  (I have had to retype portions of this as I have tried to enter this note the same as some of the previous responders have.)  I  also notice that some of the characters I type do not get entered here either.

Another problem, that comes up and may be related is that the system does not respond when I try to select a desktop icon for a program to run  It will not accept the mouse-click to run the program.  Again, this may be related, when I click on a selection arrow to bring up a selection box, the box immediately closes and does not wait for a selection to be made.  I cannot run any of my programs.  I am barely able to type this in.

ok. I have just made the changes that you have suggested. I have no idea whether this will work or not. I will say that I have been extremely frustrated - enough so that when I go to work I have to use an external keyboard and mouse or I will spend the entire day fighting with my computer! I do not believe that this is just operator error. I have been typing since manual typewriters and got the first dinosaur computer ever offered as a pc. It's not likely that I don't know what I'm doing. I've never had these problems until now. I am angry.

The problem that I am having is that Windows 7, both 32 bit and 64 bit, on multiple laptops and workstations, will stop displaying the typed character and will, instead, start at the upper left corner keyboard key and display every character, no matter what key is pressed.  For example, regardless of which keys I press, the following output will be displayed:

`1234567890-=qwertyuiop[]\asdfghjkl;'zxcvbnm,./

This pattern repeats over and over until I reboot the computer, then the keyboard will work fine for a while...  This problem is more prevalent when using RDP, or any other remote desktop session.  It only happens with Windows 7.  This OS cost me $200 at Best Buy and this is what I have to deal with?  The only solution I've found is to revert back to Windows XP, or to switch to Linux.

Macintosh and Ubuntu are looking to be a great solution about now.

P.S.  This problem occurs on Dell laptops with OEM installations, HP desktops, home built desktops (fresh install), and Dell desktops (upgraded from XP to 7 32 bit).
