Why does Windows 7 have typing problems?

When i type on the internet or on games, I often open new tabs or open other problems, simply by typing.  Sometimes what I'm typing will get erased, filled in with something else, or just won't get typed at all.  I was told this is a Windows 7 bug.

I have the same problems as everyone else. On a new Dell Inspiron laptop. It makes me want to throw my computer across the room. I have lost so much work because of this problem. I never had this problem on my old Dell laptop, and I'm certainly not typing any differently on this new one.  Has anyone else used the TouchFreeze program? I'm nervous to download it without more feedback on it.

i had tried all the mouse settings, and doing just about everything possible and nothing worked for me. i was going to call dell and tell them to send me a new computer. i find it odd that windows 7 does not have the ability to manually disable the touch pad. even though others told me it was my touchpad, i did not believe them because i didn't feel like i was close enough to the touchpad to have that affecting anything, but like i said, after i downloaded the touchfreeze program my issues have stopped so that had to be it.

I have similar problems with Windows 7 Professional on a new Dell Studio laptop. I followed someone's suggestion to go into mouse settings and make the touchpad less sensitive. Helped some, but not totally. It also helped lessen another irritant, which is the appearance of a mini-scrollbar under my pointer that sends my page soaring up or down without my volition. Any ideas about that?

i wasn't sure if it was a windows 7 problem or a dell laptop problem. I assumed since i don't have the same issue on my brand new desktop with win 7 that it had to be the laptop. after doing alot of googling to find a solution, i found an application called touchfreeze which disables the touchpad while you are typing and instantly my problem was solved, so i assume it was an overly sensitive touchpad. I have used my computer for 4 days now and have not had any more issues. i would do a google search and find this application.

I too am having text entry problems on a new (2 month old) Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 7. While entering text in an email or on some internet webpage search bars, the cursor jumps to the bing search window and a suggestions window pops up. The problem goes away when I really slow down the typing. From the many forum entries about text entry jumping which can be found on theses MS forums, there needs to be a FIX issued by Microsoft to address this annoying problem...the text just jumped again, to the middle of the last sentence while I was typing the reply. I am current with the anti virus updates. This problem seems to be widespread, moderators please help us.
