Intel Rapid Storage Technology Service is not running

I have an icon in the lower right tray that says Intel RST Service is not running.  What does this mean, do I need to fix it and how do I fix it?

Hi,

That service is described here: http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/chipsets/Q57/Q57-overview.htm about halfway down the page. It's not essential, but the most likely fix if you do have additional drives is to reload the sata driver from Intel most appropriate to your chipset.

    Under services my task manager shows 'delayed start' instead of 'automatic'. Not sure how to change that. None of this was ever a problem until I upgraded to Windows 10, hated it, and restored Windows 7. Now I'm having nothing but mass computer issues and have no idea how to solve any of them.  I'm also getting 'failed to connect to system event notification service' if anyone knows what the heck that means.

    I think so, but not sure how to properly do a system restore; my confidence is shaky when dealing with the machine (i.e.: the uninstall of intel rsd). sorry to be problematic...

    is it fairly simple?

    I turned it on and it stopped again.
