Intel Rapid Storage Technology Service is not running

I have an icon in the lower right tray that says Intel RST Service is not running.  What does this mean, do I need to fix it and how do I fix it?

Hi,

That service is described here: http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/chipsets/Q57/Q57-overview.htm about halfway down the page. It's not essential, but the most likely fix if you do have additional drives is to reload the sata driver from Intel most appropriate to your chipset.

    Hi.

    I m using Windows 8 and I went to the Task Manager and it says that my Intel RTS service IS running but my little sidebar notification still says this ""intel RTS service is not running". What can i do about that?

    I have that same problem the icon that says Intel RST service is not running and I went to task manager and there it says that Intel Rapid Storage Technology is running.. Do you know what is happening?

    Are you using Intel RST for RAID or SSD Caching?  If RAID, is it RAID 0 or RAID 1?  What version of Windows, what version of Intel RST.  Have you tried benchmarking your setup to see if it's obvious are not it's working.  Have you opened  Intel RST (rapid double click on applet to open) to see if it's reported any drives dropping out of array?

    Chances are it's working fine and being incorrectly reported.  You may want to look for the most recent version of the software, I know there is a lot of older versions floating around there.

    The version I'm using is 11.7.0.1013 and it seems pretty stable.  I had drives dropping out of array all the time until I figured out I need to turn the fast hibernate function off in windows 8.
