Please can you help me - I have an old programmes called Quicken 98 and my new windows 7 laptop won't let me load it on - how can I get this programme on my machine?

Same here, works in XP mode under Win 7-64, but I have two issues that I can't seem to resolve:

1. I can't seem to do the backup. When I pick a drive (C:/ typically) it says the disk is full.
2. I can't print to a networked printer, even though it shows it as an available printer.

Do you people have found these issues as well?

I  too am running Quicken98 under Windows 7 64bit.

"I can't seem to do the backup". Quicken98 was  designed when drives were smaller and gets confused by the larger modern ones. I created a tiny partition on the hard drive and gave it the letter Q (as I had to in XP). Works fine.

I do have a coupla issues though:

• The register doesn't load automatically (as it used to in 98SE and XP) when the program is started.
• The icon bar doesn't work properly for me so I've turned it off. The symptom is that the bar shows but it's empty. Clicking where an icon should be makes it visible.

I have had the same problem installing Quicken 98 on Windows 7 64-bit after upgrading from Vista.  After much investigating and reading I finally managed to get it running.  Don't know if it will help, but here's what I did.  BTW this only works if you have Quicken 98 installed sucessfully on another machine.

Step 1. Download and install a later version of Quicken from here:  http://quicken.intuit.com/support/articles/getting-started/upgrading-and-conversion/3838.html  or here :http://web.intuit.com/support/quicken/docs/qkn_w2002.html

I used 2002.  You will probably have to run using compatability mode (XP SP2 or Vista SP2) and possibly as administrator to install.  You also will probably need to make sure no other programs are running and disable your Anti-Virus program.

NOTE: Don't open or convert your data to the new version format!!!  Or if you do, make sure you have a backup of your 98 data files.

Step 2. After seeing that it installs and only if you have Quicken 98 running on another machine, navigate to the folder it installed to. Probably C:\Program Files (x86)\QUICKENW.

Step 3. Delete all the files within this folder, but don't delete the folder itself.

Step 4. Go to a machine where Quicken 98 is sucessfully installed - (I used my desktop running XP SP3).  Navigate to where Quicken is installed there.  Probably C:\QUICKENW. Copy the contents of that folder to a usb jump drive.

Step 5. Now copy the files from the jump drive into the folder on your Windows 7 pc (from step 3).  Then click on your icon from the interim program or the QW.exe in the folder and see if Quicken 98 opens.  It worked for me!

Step 6. You can then rename the icon from the interim program to Quicken 98.

Warning - Some of the associated programs with the interim program will now be missing and won't work, including the uninstall.  You might also want to clean your register with a program such as CCleaner.

This isn't the cleanest way to get Quicken 98 working, but if you love this version like I do, it does allow you to continue running it in Windows 7 64-bit.

I aslo found this link: http://web.intuit.com/support/quicken/docs/qkn_win98.html for a Quicken 98 32-bit, but it wouldn't install for me in Windows 7 64bit.

I did find my Quicken 98 CD would install on a netbook running Windows 7 Starter 32-bit.

You might have to minimize/maximize the program each time to see the entire screen, but that's the only bug I've seen so far and I had the same issue when it was running under Vista.
