Device Drive Software not sucessfully installed -Code 39- Optiarc DVD +-RW AD 7580A ATA Device

Need Help !

Recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop using Vista operating system.

The DVD +-RW Device was working but has recently failed.

The Device Manager locates the Driver which is Optiarc DVD +-RW AD 7580A ATA Device

The Device Manager has a (-) marker which tells me the driver is not working.

I tried to update this driver but message received is "most recent driver already installed".

I opted to uninstall driver and restarted system.

Upon restart, system attemped to reinstall driver for my CD Rom.

I then received message " Drive device software was not sucessfully installed".

Also received message "Wndows cannot load the device for this hardware. Code 39"

At present my CD Rom device will not work.

I would appreciate anyone who has a solution to this problem.

Did you recently install some new burner software? Several of the burner installs can cause error 39. You sould rightclick this link to another Answers thread about removing the "Upper Filters" and "Lower Filters"entries. You can remove those by creating the CMD file I will paste in below, created by William Keener.

Carefully copy, and then paste the following three commands into Notepad:

reg export HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\ %userprofile%\desktop\CDFiltersBackup.reg

reg delete HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\ /v UpperFilters /f
reg delete HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\ /v LowerFilters /f

Save the file on your desktop as DeleteCDFilters.cmd.
Right-click the DeleteCDFilters.cmd file on your desktop, and then click Run as administrator.

Note After you run this script, any programs that installed custom CD/DVD filter drivers may not be able to use your CD/DVD until your reinstall those programs. If the command script doesn't resolve the problem, you can simply restore your custom CD/DVD Filter drivers by double-clicking the CDFiltersBackup.reg that the command script exports to your desktop.

(Soon we will be seeing a "FixIt4Me" button from his team to do this automatically.)

I followed your instructions and restarted, and my CD drive is working properly again, THANK YOU!!! But also, I wanted to let you know that I'd been having problems with my Sims 3 game launcher, it wasn't working for 3 months and I tried so many things I found online, and now thanks to you, it is working again! Alot of people are having problems with their game launchers, and I'm sure others have been stuck like me, so maybe the problem is the CD drive for them also. Thanks again!

I uninstalled a virus package and anti spyware so I could install Norton security 2010 but my DVD drive is getting Device Drive Software not sucessfully installed -Code 39- Optiarc DVD +-RW AD 7580A ATA Device![](http://i3.social.microsoft.com/Forums/resources/images/trans.gif?cver=2.8.0041.0). Hi,

Code 39 means the driver is corrupt or missing.

Please do all the below even if you have done some before as it is often the total process which solves

the issue.

Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab - click

Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT

this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if drive is not shown continue below.

Then work your way through these - remember the drive could be bad, could have a loose cable or

slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then check cables in both

ends. Remove and replace, do not just snug. For laptops you can often clean the power and

data contacts with a pencil eraser.

Also check with your System Maker to see if there are updated drivers for your DVD. Or even if there

are old ones you can reinstall. Many use the Windows Default drivers however a few will have special

ones. Also check the drive maker's site.

Manually look at manufacturer's sites for drivers - and Device Maker's sites.
