Dual Monitor blacks out the second monitor in locked mode

Your an idiot. Just because it does not add any value to the work place does not mean it does not have its place.

With my employer we use a background that contains system information and details. so it is very important to be able to see this when the system is locked.

I'm honestly at a complete loss that anyone, and I mean anyone out there, is that bothered by this missing functionality.  I just ran in to this issue today, with a new employee that just started working for us.  She says, "It worked that way at my last job with WindowsXP.  That's what I want on my Windows7 box."  Really?  Are you kidding me??  Total waste of time and adds nothing relevant to this or any persons job responsibilities when their machine is locked & they're away from their computer.

I'm shocked at the number of replies to this & similar posts.  The number of people that are totally bothered by this is unbelievable.  Frankly surprised no one's suggested dumping Windows for MAC, but it looks like just finding the lock feature on a MAC may be just as hard (go figure).

My answer:  give it up & move on to something that actually matters.

This is mega annoying for what is probably a 5min programming job to fix.

Consider a classroom/presentation setup. When a projector (or large TV) is connected to the '2nd monitor' in extend mode - and that machine is locked/logged off once finished, the projector/TV then displays a blank picture and of course people then forget to turn them off - since they can't see anything obvious displayed.

With the standard OEM wallpaper shown on both outputs - this wouldn't be a problem.

You can add me to the list of people that want this fixed. Annoying as balls...

i guess Windows 7 is blacking out the secondary monitor as Windows 7 does not wants what background you have set on secondary monitor when your computer is locked.

The Lock Computer Screen hides desktop, applications, taskbar, background and other possible software applications.

So even if the Lock Screen is displayed on Primary Monitor, Windows 7 is supposed to protect the contents of other monitors as well & hence i guess windows 7 is blacking out other screens.

I googled for some 3rd party software that can be useful, but i at this point i could not find any such application.

You can try out http://www.murgee.com/MurGeeMon/ to set different background images on a dual monitor windows.

Also 3rd party application might be difficult to code as well, because when windows is locked, there might not be an easy way to display something else on other monitors.

Alternatively there can be some application that can simulate Windows Locking and simultaneously display something colorful on other monitors. Pre Beta version at http://www.murgee.com/pc-locker/download/setup.exe, it simulates Computer Lock Screen, Prompts for Signed on User's Password, Disables access to Desktop on Primary Monitor, Disables Alt+Tab and other Windows Shortcut Keys, Disables Task Manager and cannot control Ctrl + Alt + Del.
