I am using Windows 7  and getting an error Code

WerFault.exe - Application Error

The Instruction at 0xfcf9c9fe reference memory at 0x00000001. The memory could not be written. Click to terminate program.

How do I fix this?

The werfault.exe is used for Windows Error Reporting. It is a feature that allows Microsoft to track and address errors relating to the operating system, Windows features, and applications. It gives you the option to send data about errors to Microsoft and to receive information about solutions.

You can access settings for Windows Error Reporting here: Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Problem Reports and Solutions > Change settings > Advanced settings

Try turning it off temporarily and see if this will fix the problem.

As a temporarily solution you can turn off error reporting service: press Win+R, type services.msc than find Windows Error Reporting service in the services list, right-click on it -> click Properties ->  open "Startup type" list and select "Disabled" -> press OK.

Then check and see if you are still getting the werfault.exe error on opening programs.

Since you have just installed Windows 7, please verify you have updated all of your device drivers to a Windows 7 version. If you cannot do so in normal mode, then go to safe mode and verify in device manager.

    Im a lil lost..

    So, see if that event is recorded in the Reliability Monitor and if there are any more clues there.

    However, to discover more about "the application at location 0x000000006F9FD902" I would try using ProcExp and see if there is something that usually loads there.

    I had the same issue and did a windows troubleshoot, it found a registry issue and fixed it. Now i can update without werfault.exe error.

    few weeks ago, I installed Nuance PDf processor. The other day I noticed some problems with Outlook 2013 and today I just started getting the Werfault.exe error, it pops up with 2 error locations.  One of the solutions suggested that the StartUp folder might have problems.  I only found one file there so my problem might be with the registry which was suggested by a different user.

    I followed the steps of the win +r then typing in services and disabling and now I get an error Dw20.exe. Help?
