I am using Windows 7 and getting an error Code

WerFault.exe - Application Error

The Instruction at 0xfcf9c9fe reference memory at 0x00000001. The memory could not be written. Click to terminate program.

How do I fix this?

The werfault.exe is used for Windows Error Reporting. It is a feature that allows Microsoft to track and address errors relating to the operating system, Windows features, and applications. It gives you the option to send data about errors to Microsoft and to receive information about solutions.

You can access settings for Windows Error Reporting here: Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Problem Reports and Solutions > Change settings > Advanced settings

Try turning it off temporarily and see if this will fix the problem.

As a temporarily solution you can turn off error reporting service: press Win+R, type services.msc than find Windows Error Reporting service in the services list, right-click on it -> click Properties -> open "Startup type" list and select "Disabled" -> press OK.

Then check and see if you are still getting the werfault.exe error on opening programs.

Since you have just installed Windows 7, please verify you have updated all of your device drivers to a Windows 7 version. If you cannot do so in normal mode, then go to safe mode and verify in device manager.

To all and I hope this will help most of you but I had the same issue and tried all these steps and none worked.

one worked and that is I uninstalled my antivirus program and the message went away. Just go to your safe mode and do it from there

Today this **** happens!

WerFault.exe - Application Error. Message: "The instruction at 0x00007FFD2AA04A33 referenced memory at 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program."

By the way - clicking OK is necessary 3 or 4 times, but/and later clicking does not give results - message about error returns over and over again.

Previous versions of Windows (Win-XP, Win-7, Win-8, Win-8.1) and Win10 first year experience - no problems!

Last two weeks Win-10 every day something new (I mean different problems)!

Please give back stable & secure OS!!!

Have you tried the previous poster's suggestion? Otherwise it may be possible to identify the program which loads over that address and try to deal with the symptom that way. First though, see if there are clues in the Reliability Monitor or Event logs.
