Monitor won't wake up when coming back from sleep (Windows 7)

I recently upgraded my Dell Dimension desktop to Windows 7. In order to do so, I had to install a new grapchis card (NVIDIA GeForce).

I set the PC to sleep after a period of time. When I go to move the mouse and wake the computer back up, the PC itself seems to respond, but the monitor never comes back from sleep. I have no choice but to reboot to get the monitor back.

Any suggestions?

A Universal fix would be ideal but - ASUS appears in 14 out of the 16 pages in this thread!!! Not saying everybody having this problem has an ASUS motherboard but if they do, and it seems a high percentage of people do, then they need todisable the PLL Overvoltage in their BIOS!!

IT ACTUALLY WORKS! Not just a workaround, my Computer AND Monitor now both wake from sleep by simply moving the mouse!

Also, obviously only people who have this problem are going to come here. If this is a wide-spread Windows 7 problem, then what about all the complaints large companies like HP Compaq and DELL etc would receive when their customers have the same problem? If they received many complaints and being that they have a much bigger voice than us they would simply demand Microsoft fix it. I also have a TOSHIBA laptop running windows 7 and it sleeps and wakes just fine.

So if anybody who has friends or family who own a 2011 Dell, Acer or HP etc that came out brand new, factory loaded with Windows 7 please ask them if they have this issue or not. (These companies may have had this problem initially but I would imagine it would be fixed by now??!!)

A lot of people who have this problem also seem to have a separate Video Card (I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 6870 which of course the monitor is connected to) Do any people who are using integrated graphics also have this problem such as people with an H67 mobo?

I am curious as to what percentage of Windows 7 users have this problem. We may find we are in the 1% bracket and 99% of Windows 7 users don't have this problem. It may just be incompatibility of Windows 7 with either our hardware or settings.

In my case disabling PLL Overvoltage works! :-)

SAME PROBLEM - funny, it was working up until a couple days ago. This isn't a new problem as I have found posts that go way back to betas. My laptop has SiS M740 hardware and the drivers are up to date.

My desktop will go to sleep, but it has varied problems waking up. This is one of them. In general, it appears to just get lost even if it initially appears to come on OK. So I always have to do a total off. PITA. System is on a UPS and it has an OCZ 705W PSU, so I don't have power problems.

I have the same problem with a Aspire X1700. I've install a GeForce GT220 some days ago and now the computer wake up from suspend but the display not. I need to hold some seconds the power button to switch off the machine and start again.

If anybody got the solution please post it here.

Same problem here.

Brand new PC, ATI 4650 graphics, ASUS P755D mobo, i5 750 processor.

Everything up to date including win 7 & all drivers.

Monitor set to go into sleep mode after 10 mins but it will not come out of it.

The PC itself is still running in the background but just no video output.

So I'd say its a windows 7 problem not a video driver since its happening to both ATI & Nvidia cards.

Anybody?

I have a newly assembled computer. ASUS P7P55LX mobo; Intel i5 750; ATI 5750 VGA. The Windows 7 instal is fresh.

My computer worked fine for a few days, then a slew of Windows 7 updates were installed.

I then started having the following problems relating to restarting the computer:
1. It will not resume from sleep and has to be shut down;
2. It will go to sleep without notice, even when I am working on the computer.

3. It will not restart after shutdown, if I try to restart within the next hour.

The problem is, I cannot get the computer to start up again until it has be left switched off for a couple of hours. It feels like it has gone into sleep mode and is stuck in that mode.

When I try to restart immediately I get one long beep and three short beeps. The computer then goes into a loop without proceeding to wake up the monitor and boot up. At this point I switch it off and leave it off. Yes, I have installed the latest ATI 10.1 Catalyst suite driver.
