At the outset let me inform that I am not offering a solution here, but re-phrasing the problem with an intent to make it more comprehensible in the first place.
I have a Dell Inspiron Windows 7 Home Premium laptop. There is no Caps Lock LED indicator on the laptop as you find in a discrete keyboard. The Caps Lock notification can be enabled in 2 ways, both of which has a "nagging" deficit.
(1) Enable the Caps Lock feedback Tone through Control Panel > Ease of Access Center > Make it easier to type > Turn on Toggle Keys (check select).
The LIMITATION here is that there is no "status" available for the current Caps Lock state. You have to attempt a trial-error Caps Lock press and set this according to the tone feedback.
(2) Enable Dell QuickSet in the Taskbar with "Show Icon and Notification"
The Caps Lock icon appears / disappears on the taskbar as per the status of the Caps Lock key. Perfect.
The PROBLEM is that it also displays a flashing animation of the Caps Lock Status, which is a "distraction" while typing cool. Some has coined a term called eye-stealing :-/ for this problem. There is lot of writing on this topic on various forums which
is only going up and up.
The display time of the animation can be adjusted to a minimum of 5 seconds but cannot be disabled altogether. (Ease of Access Center > Adjust time limits and flashing visuals > How long should windows notification dialog boxes stay open > Set to 5 seconds
minimum).
My question: Is there any setting possible for "Only Show Icon, but disallow Notification".
The registry settings mentioned earlier on this discussion, actually hides both icon and notification. So there is no way to understand the current Caps Lock state other than trial and error.
The Keyboard applet in control panel has no option for Caps Lock setting in my Laptop model.
I have tried different versions of the Dell QuickSet software, including v.9.6.21, A07 as mentioned in your post, but the animation thing persists. I am presently using the latest version 11.1.32.
