'Caps Lock' notification - Appears on the screen when I am typing which stops me from typing for a second or two

I've just got windows 7 and I am having great difficulties in typing. Everytime I press the 'caps lock' key a little notification pops up on the bottom right of my screen. This isn't that annoying but it does stop me from typing for the second or two that it is up for. How do I turn this pointless feature off so I can continue typing?

I finally found a reasonable solution on my laptop....

Go to Control Panel > Ease of Access > Ease of Access Center > and at the bottom of the screen select "Make it easier to focus on tasks"

Then scroll down and select "Adjust time limits and flashing visuals" and unclick the option

The end result is that you will still see the notification that CAPs has been turned on or off, but it will not cause a pause in your typing.

Hope this helps!  I thought I was going to chuck my laptop out the window if I didn't figure out how to change this setting....

Hi

It sounds like one of the Accessibility options has been enabled.

Open Control Panel/Ease of Access Center.

Select the Make the Keyboard easier to use item.

Remove the check marks from Turn on Toggle Keys and Turn on Toggle Keys by holding down the NUM LOCK key for5 seconds.

Click Apply/OK.

Hi,

this notification is handled by BTTray.exe process. You must edit the following registry entries to ged rid of this ugly alert:

 Press WinKey and type "regedit" > navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Widcomm > BTConfig > General > KeyIndication

Change the value of "KeyIndication" from "1" to "0"

Reboot..

And the nasty notification is gone!

Im running on a Dell Inspiron Laptop home edition, with same issue. I just did a search on Dell forum and found this answer.  Similar to yours.

in regedit go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dell Computer Corporation\QuickSet\QuickSetControl  and set it to1

This worked for me :)

NB: Always backup your registry before you make any changes.

Go to the Control panel and select Keyboard.

Select the Key settings Tab.

Scroll down to Caps lock and double click it.

Uncheck the box marked Displays CAPS Lock status on screen.

    If you don't have the:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Widcomm > BTConfig > General > KeyIndication

    like myself, I had to find mine manually through task manager. I installed a different Bluetooth driver (CSR Harmony) and I did not have this registry. The on screen display problem for capslock, numlock and scroll lock are all related to Bluetooth. 

    1. Check in 'device manager' (type it in windows search bar) and click on 'Bluetooth Radios' to see what it is called.
    2. Loading up windows task manager, select the 'process' tab and then click on the 'description' tab. My Bluetooth device in device manger was CSR Bluetooth radio. The description in taskmanager should be in alphabetical order and look for your Bluetooth device name or anything similar to BT, Bluetooth (could be others) or CSR in my case and also including 'OSD' or a combination of on, screen and display in the description. Mine was just CSR OSD and now don't close out of taskmanger.
    3. Now right click it (if you found it) and click 'open file location'. The 'whateveritisnamed.exe' should be highlighted. Remember it and now end the process back in taskmanager and then move the file somewhere else just in case you still need or want it (I put it in a zip in the same location and then deleted the .exe).
    4. Test the lock keys and see if the notifications disappeared!

    Hope this bad guide helps anyone who can't find a solution.
