Service TrustedInstaller.EXE permanently active taking up to 50% CPU resources

On my machine (Windows 7, 64 Bit) the TrustedInstaller.EXE is permanently active. The amount of used CPU changes permanently. 2 seconds 0 % then up to 50% (I have a dual core) for a second then down to 0.

Rebooting the machine did not help. Also a complete Virus scan was negative.

I have monitored the process with the Process Explorer tool. I can see that the process always access the same Registry key when it gets active. The key is

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\PackageDetect\Microsoft-Windows-IIS-WebServer-AddOn-2-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~0.0.0.

Hi Robear,

in the meantime I have found the process that was responsible for the trustedinstaller activities. It was the xenservice.exe that was installed together with the Citrix XenCenter on my machine. I have killed this process and suddenly the trustedinstaller.exe stopped its activities. So the problem is solved now because the XenCenter can work without this process and I will remove it from the auto

Thanks for your help.

Martin

Well Shinmila, that is not fixing the problem.....that is taking something that has always worked perfectly fine until now and stopping it from working because the tech people have no idea how to fix this problem.  This is an insufficient answer.  It's okay for temporary, but not long term.  So is anyone working on correctly this new issue??

    Thank you, Terri Stephens

    Hi y'all,

One of the oldest problems in Windows appears the be the load-up sequence. Things are better now but it still rears its ugly head......hence, I assume, some kind of Installer. There is no cure for the requirement to install things properly - you must wait out TrustedInstaller.  If it keeps on hammereing away then it obviously has problems. Taking out TrustedInstaller is NOT progress, so try this:

Go into msconfig, hide Microsoft services, then turn off everything in the tabs BOOT then STARTUP.

Reboot and then re-instate in groups of no more that 4 at a time.

This, I suggest, allows TrustedInstalled to re-order things properly.

Obviously; if one app is found which causes problems it can be dealt with.  I did this to my WVista PC which is 5 years clogged and it was resored to instantly restored to health and vigour.

    Hope this helps!

A1: I thought that maybe KIS caused this problem. I was not sure whether the problem started before the upgrade to KIS 2011 or after the upgrade. Therefore I removed it totally but the problem was not solved.

    A2. No it was active,
