when I delete a file in windows explorer it still shows there - I have to switch to a different directory and back, then the file name of the deleted file disappears. How can windoes explorer be configured so that deleted files disappear there immediately?

Hello Everyone,

As TavisB said that this didn’t occur on his guest account before he reinstalled. That means that a corrupted profile can cause this issue, let’s try creating a new account to see if that solves the problem. If the new account works correctly, I’ll provide steps to transferring over your user files.

·         Click Start

·         Enter User Accounts into the search field

·         Press Enter on your keyboard

·         Click Manage another Account

·         Click Create a new account

·         Type the name of the user account

·         Click the account type (make it administrator if you are replacing an administrator account)

·         Click Create Account

·         Log off the current user

·         Log into the new user

Try to replicate the problems experienced by your original profile. If the problem doesn’t occur then you just have to switch your documents over to this profile.

·         Click Start

·         Click Documents

·         Click Tools (Press Alt if Tools isn’t visible)

·         Click Folder Options…

·         Click View

·         Click Show hidden files and folders

·         Clear Hide protected operating system files

·         Click OK

·         Navigate to this location C:\Users<old username>

·         Select all files and folders except the Ntuser.dat, Ntuser.dat.log, and Ntuser.ini files

·         Click Edit (Press Alt if not visible)

·         Click Copy

·         Locate the C:\Users<new username>

·         Click Edit (Press Alt is not visible)

·         Click Paste

·         Log off the new user

·         Log back into the new user

Hope that helps, look forward to hearing back from you.

It came back shortly after I posted, then I removed Office 2010 Tech Preview and installed the beta, seems to be ok for now.

I have discovered what was causing the problem on my system.  I originally did a clean install of Windows 7 on a new disk drive.  I gave the new Windows 7 installation a new "Computer Name".  I used Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to move the data from my old PC to my new Win7 installation.  Part of the data that was restored were my old PC's folder shares.  When I open the Win7 Library Folder, I could see a share "MySharedData on <Old PC Name>" listed under Computer.  Obviously, that share does not exist on my new Win7 installation.  When I would click on that share, my PC would hang for ~20 seconds and throw a "not found" error.  When I deleted that incorrect share, I no longer had to do F5 refresh.  All Copy/Rename/Move/Delete file and folder operations are now working correctly.  The result of these operations show up immediately without pressing F5.  I don't know if this is applicable to others with this problem, but it is resolved for me at this point.

    Hi!

For more information, same problem vastly treated here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/8afb8b65-900c-4f42-b1df-3c2394417b6e/

Althought it is not solved so far, has been posted some "fixes" similar to that published by johnef, and at least one of them is even easier (basically disable all network sharing)

Pd: You'll find someone in that forum linking here. I'm doing the same thing for you to have more information
