How do I know what the CIFS sign is

Yusufss, you don't need your windows log on / password.

Here's how to solve the problem, It's a conflict issue.

Question: Do you have Windows live essentials on you computer? If so, uninstall.

I don't know why but there's a conflict between Windows Live Sign in Assistant (part of the Windows live essentials) and LG's DNLA enabled Blu ray media players.

Once you have done this, use a good uninstaller cleaner program ( i use a free IObit uninstaller) to clean any leftover fragments on the hard drive.

Make sure your folders you want to link to are shared ( see you help pages on your computer), turn on your blu ray media player , click network , "hopefully" see your computer with the folders interlinked below, choose what you want to listen, watch or look at.

To log in using CIFS ,

CIFS: your PC name\your user name <-------- (use your pc's name, then backslash, then user name....NO SPACES)

( full computer name - start,control panel, sytem, computer name tab, use full computer name)

password: (your user name profiles password, user name has to have a password for this CIFS to work, if your pc doesn't have one, create one)

Be sure to have your user name profile allowed to be shared with the media folder.

Properties of that folder and then sharing tab, advanced tab, make sure your user name has full permissions to sharing.

It seems a lot of people have given various pieces of advices which are confusing and conflicting.

So here is a comprehensive yet simple method to be able to sign in to your PC.

1. If you have Windows Live essential sign in. Uninstall it
2. Open Control Panel
3. Open Homegroup (Windows 7)
4. Change advanced sharing settings
5. Scroll down to Password protected sharing
6. Click "Turn off password protected sharing" (Also ensure Media Streaming is on also)
7. Go to your blu ray player or device (in my case its a LG Blu Ray)
8. Connect a wired LAN cable or Setup Wireless connection (if not done already)
9. Click on Movie (or whatever it is on your device)
10. Select your PC and click (not the Windows Media Player one) , should be towards the bottom
11. Enter your normal computer username and password (if no password, leave blank)
12. You will now have access to your PC including all the folders, including the windows media one in Select a Device or Server list on your blu ray player etc.

However, if you want folders to appear below in the select Device or Server list, then share that folder by going into the folder and granting sharing access to the default pc user.

Another method is to go into the Network Connection guide under Select a Device or Server, and follow the instructions. You will need your Owners Manual and Nero disc that was provided.

Although I have mentioned that if you have dont have a user password, it will still work. However, in some cases it wont. To be on the safe side, create a user password.

ps. You dont need to create a guest account.

If by any chance you have problems relogging in, then do the following:

For Windows 7

1. Type LOCAL SECURiTY POLICY in search programs and files
2. Click on it
3. Click on Local Policies
4. Click on Security Options 
5. Scroll down to, Network access:Restrict anonymous access to Named Pipes and shares,  Disable it . 
6. Then scroll to,  Network access:Let everyone permissions apply to anonymous users ,     Enable It.
7. Go to your Blu Ray Player. Sign in and your shared folders will then show.
