How do I know what the CIFS sign is

I have an LG BD570 and an Argosy HV335t, both worked fine until out of the blue both started asking for this mysterious ID & Password to connect to my shared folders. After spending a long time on the phone with MS support and getting nowhere except them blaming Argosy an LG "I didn't bother to contact LG due to post of their lack of help", I emailed Argosy supoort and got an immediate solution. This involves editing the registry so try at your own risk. Follow the steps exactly and I hope it solves your problem as it did mine. This worked on my setup using Windows 7 Home Premium. Why MS support didn't know this I have no idea since one of their updates probably broke if in the first place.

 

edit the following settings in Registry

 

-Click Start button and type regedit in Search box and select regedit.exe to execute

-Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa and change the value as follows

-Right click on "LimitBlankPasswordUse", select Modify and change the value data to 1

-Right click on "NoLmHash", select Modify and change the value data to 0

-Right click on "everyoneincludesanonymous", select Modify and change value data to 1

-Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanServer\Parameters, right click on "restrictnullsessaccess" select Modify and change the value data to 0

-Reboot the PC again

Yes!!!! this is the solution! after a long time looking for an solution, this works for me. (laptop win 7 and an LG HB600 home cinema set)

thanks this worked for me.  Road runner went down one night, and I unplugged my router

and modem to reset them.  When I turned them back on I didn't realize the setting on port 445

had changed.  I couldn't log into the LG BD570 after a year of it working fine.  Until then I had been able to log in easily to my LG BD570 by creating

an additional user account and password with my Windows 7 machine.  So if you

experience this kind of sudden failure check your firewall settings first.

I also have an BD570 and I have the following problem:

When going to the Home Link part of the player I can't see my Windows 7 machine. I can see the media streaming icon, but that I do not want to use. Instead I want to access my shared folders without using the media streaming option. Can anyone help me?

My LG player and my computer are on the same network of course (else is would not detect my media stream).

Just got a BD670, and I hit this forum looking for ideas... here is what worked for me (Win7):

Open Windows Media Player

There are three menu entries below the top bar: Organize, Stream, Create Playlist

Click Stream

Click "Automatically Allow Devices To Play My Media"

Then through the BD670, when browsing the local network for media sources, choose the one that has the Media Player icon (not the network icon).  This will NOT be a CIFS connection, and with any luck, you'll get to a screen with folders for your music, video, pictures, etc. 

of course, this implies that you've setup your libraries on the Win7 machine with the media player - if not, you'll just need to set that up so it knows where you're storing your media and can index it.

once that was done, i had full access to the music library, it is pulling down album art, etc.
