How do I know what the CIFS sign is

Hi,

I just figured it out. All you need to do are the following steps:

1- create a user on your computer (from the control panel, user management). For example: username: guest , password: whatever

2- share the drive that has the media you would like to play and give the user guest access to it.

3- Go to your Blue Ray player, when it asks for CIFS login enter the guest user information.

Voila! It should show the folder under your servername and you can play files.

I have an LG BD570 and an Argosy HV335t, both worked fine until out of the blue both started asking for this mysterious ID & Password to connect to my shared folders. After spending a long time on the phone with MS support and getting nowhere except them blaming Argosy an LG "I didn't bother to contact LG due to post of their lack of help", I emailed Argosy supoort and got an immediate solution. This involves editing the registry so try at your own risk. Follow the steps exactly and I hope it solves your problem as it did mine. This worked on my setup using Windows 7 Home Premium. Why MS support didn't know this I have no idea since one of their updates probably broke if in the first place.

 

edit the following settings in Registry

 

-Click Start button and type regedit in Search box and select regedit.exe to execute

-Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa and change the value as follows

-Right click on "LimitBlankPasswordUse", select Modify and change the value data to 1

-Right click on "NoLmHash", select Modify and change the value data to 0

-Right click on "everyoneincludesanonymous", select Modify and change value data to 1

-Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanServer\Parameters, right click on "restrictnullsessaccess" select Modify and change the value data to 0

-Reboot the PC again

Yes!!!! this is the solution! after a long time looking for an solution, this works for me. (laptop win 7 and an LG HB600 home cinema set)

I was having the same problems as you guys with the LG BD570. Here's what I was able to come up with to stream from laptop to the LG

BTW, I'm using Windows 7 Premium Home

** First make sure your computer & LG player are both part of the same network. If you're not sure lookup "setting up a home network" on this site and get that setup first!

1. Open My Computer, then double click C: Drive
2. Double click users

3) Right click on your username (this is your login name for Windows)

4. Highlight 'share with', then select 'Homegroup (read)'
5. Give the PC a few seconds to finish configuring (if you're asked if you're sure you want to share, click 'yes')
6. Close out 'My Computer'
7. Open Windows Media Player (I have version 12.07)
8. In the upper left hand corner, click the 'Stream' button
9. Select 'Turn on media streaming with Homegroup'
10. Select the folders you wish to share (ex. pictures, music, videos, etc)
11. Click 'next'
12. Either write down the password shown or choose the 'change your password' button to change it to something you'll remember.
13. Click 'Finish'
14. Here a menu pops up which allows you to name your Library; select 'Local Network' at the 'Show Devices On' section.
15. Also on this menu beside 'Media Programs on this PC...', make sure 'Allowed' is selected.
16. Click 'OK' at bottom of window
17. In the upper left of WMPlayer, select 'Stream' again; This time make sure 'Automatically allow devices to play my media' has a check mark beside it. (If not, click it so it is checked)
18. Now go back to your LG blu-ray, cycle off the power (if not already), restart the player. Then go to the Home Link Menu that lists the computers on your network. You should see your PC name & a Windows Media icon on screen.

Select the Windows Media icon and your music should show up on screen.

**Note: I found that my LG player did not even ask for the password, but yours may?

i too bought a similar machine : LG BD570.

i spent a WEEK trying all manner of ID & password combinations, numerous pnone calls to & from LG--differing answers, including call BT broadband & install my own in a DLNA server--how?  BT "took over" my laptop & could not find the answer

i dont think the LG guys understand their question, & certainly not the answer

i have given up for now.
