Can I delete the system reserved partition from 100MB

Is there a possibility to install windows 7 (clean install) without making a extra (hidden) partition "system reserved" from 100mb?

or how can I delete this partition after install ?

Why is it for?

I have the meaning that this slows down my hard drive a little ?

Hi Johan G,

Thanks for posting to Getting Ready for Windows 7 .

The 100MB partition is a system partition and contains boot files. Disk Manager will not allow you to remove this partition because removing this partition could cause the system to not boot.

    As far as I know, there is no reason for anyone to get rid of this important system/boot partition. It's better to leave it as it is, as space taken is irrelevant. It's better to let Windows 7 go its own way. This topic is useless as far as I am concerned. :)

    I don't know what partition you are talking about, but be aware that

    100MB is a *tiny* amount of disk space these days.

    You can buy a 1TB drive for $70 US. At that rate, 100MB is less than a

    penny's worth of disk space. If it were me, I wouldn't worry about it.

    Some searching might reveal some answers...

    1. The 100Meg system partition is used mainly for bitlocker, which is only availabale to W7 Enterprise, biz' and Ultimate. (Confirm please?)
    2. Why should the partition exist in the first place, what is the benefit?
    3. SSDs are much more expensive per amount of storage when compared with mechanical disk drives.
    4. There are suggestions that by removing the 100M partition, some speed gains can be found with SSDs... (Evidence?)
