Can I delete the system reserved partition from 100MB

Is there a possibility to install windows 7 (clean install) without making a extra (hidden) partition "system reserved" from 100mb?

or how can I delete this partition after install ?

Why is it for?

I have the meaning that this slows down my hard drive a little ?

Hi Johan G,

Thanks for posting to Getting Ready for Windows 7 .

The 100MB partition is a system partition and contains boot files. Disk Manager will not allow you to remove this partition because removing this partition could cause the system to not boot.

    That is entirely inaccurate comment about price per byte. You take for granted that those wanted to remove the 100Mb partition are those that have spindle disks. What about those like myself that operate an SSD bootdisk OCZ Vertex2 46.6Gb total usable space. When you factor in the current price of 224.00 and 49.92 Gbytes then your looking at $4.48 per gigabyte or .002 per byte (8 bits) (32 nibbles). Which is still a small amount but much more than pennies; $2.10 for a 100Mb or .100G.

    I, a system engineer, install windows7 normaly without the 100MB partition.

    The only thing you have to do is create the partition first without using the windows setup.

    you can use a program like fdisk in dos, windows PE(xp edition), an old windows setup disk or another tools from a bootable disk.

    No, it isn't.  People may make mistakes a lot, but that does not mean this situation is a mistake.

    This presumes you know more of the situation than the person in the situation, which is, of course, not true.  Therefore, this is not constructive.  I stumbled into this forum specifically because I am also seeing a problem due to the system reserve partition.

    "If the system is fighting your removing it, there's a reason."

    But is it a good reason?  In looking at why the partition exists, it is mostly for potential future use, not definite future use.  Therefore it is up to the administrator to determine whether to keep the partition or get rid of it, not a generalized blanket statement.
