Can I delete the system reserved partition from 100MB

Is there a possibility to install windows 7 (clean install) without making a extra (hidden) partition "system reserved" from 100mb?

or how can I delete this partition after install ?

Why is it for?

I have the meaning that this slows down my hard drive a little ?

Hi Johan G,

Thanks for posting to Getting Ready for Windows 7 .

The 100MB partition is a system partition and contains boot files. Disk Manager will not allow you to remove this partition because removing this partition could cause the system to not boot.

    hi, im not too good at figuring out whats wrong with my computer when i feel something is wrong, im hoping you can guide me in the right direction to help me please? ok, well i noticed that im running out of space on my desk top computer, im running a( windows vista home premium amd athlon  64 x2 duel core processor 4000 +  2.00 GB ram,nvidia g force 615 ose nforce 430)so ive been going into my folders and deleting stuff out of therethinking maybe i can make some more space for myself , since i already went into my contol center and deleted stuff i wasnt really using and doing the disk thingy removel thing, sorry lol , i think i might have done something im not supposed to do, i hope not, but this is why im asking you, what i noticed is, in the folder that i deleted something from, there are a couple of things that are now in blue ink, which it use to be black, im wondering if i deleted something i wasnt supposed to, my computer is running fine, im just worried that i might have did something that i wont know until its too late, and of course i dont want that!! im gonna give you the names of the things that are in blue, but i dont think i deleted this, i think i deleted something from these things, you know what i mean?there are 2 that i know im not supposed to delete, and these are the ones in blue, thats why it worries me!! 

                          BOOT.SEC.BAK BAK FILE

                          EMICON.DII APPLICATION EXTEN....

    Do you know why this happened? please help me? thank you , even if you cant help me, thanks for at least trying :)

    Questions:

    1. Why did the Windows 7 installer put the System Reserved partition on one drive, and the C: (OS files) on the other?   It seems to happen more often than not on machines with 2 drives.  It's damn infuriating because I can't remove the 2nd drive.
    2. Can you relocate the System Reserved partition to the other drive (using software mirroring?)

    Hi there.

    Yes, I know, this topic is very old. June 2009. But reading from Seven Forums there is a way you can get rid of this problem.

    Indeed, the 100mb unallocated space is used for boot. After install, you can delete the 100mb unallocated space, HOWEVER , you won't be able to boot after moving the 100mb space to your main drive (C:), so failing to follow the instructions may result in data loss . This is why you must have your Windows 7 CD near by and repair the boot sector, or you can create a bootable recovery disc if you happen to have a recordable CD or DVD writer. Here's how:

    1. Open up Start Menu or Run (Windows key + R )
    2. Write "recdisc " without the quotation marks.
    3. Choose the drive letter with a CD/DVD inside.
    4. Press Create disc .
    5. It shouldn't take long. You're done, you can remove the CD/DVD.

    Oh, and you can start Disk Management by typing "diskmgmt.msc " to Run, Start Menu or Command Prompt. You may have to use a third party software to move the 100mb to your primary Windows disk. The link below may also help you.

    EDIT: Yeah, I didn't read every post. I temporarily fixed mine a long time ago with command prompt, setting the 100mb inactive so it won't shop up in My Computer and stuff. But yeah, 100mb is back.
