Is there a possibility to install windows 7 (clean install) without making a extra (hidden) partition "system reserved" from 100mb?

or how can I delete this partition after install ?

Why is it for?

I have the meaning that this slows down my hard drive a little ?

thanks

Hi Johan G,

Thanks for posting to Getting Ready for Windows 7 .

The 100MB partition is a system partition and contains boot files. Disk Manager will not allow you to remove this partition because removing this partition could cause the system to not boot.

Thanks for posting your question to Getting Ready for Winodws 7 community group.

Regards,

Debbie

First delete everything using a Microsoft Windows Vista disk, then press New, creating the partition but not installing the OS yet.  After rebooting put Windows 7 in and install ontop of the Vista made partition.  This will allow you to have Windows 7 installed with 1 partition.

    Yes : 'Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Disk Management->Storage'

first: System Reserved NTFS.      , system, Actif, primair partition. 100Mb  (no drive letter)

Then: C:           bootdrive, crshdump, swabdrive 280 GB

I have done a clean install, making a new partition of my hole disk. Then i get a message " must make a new partition for system files".

Then he makes a 100mb partition and install windows7 on C (300 GB)

Am I the only one ?

    Grz

Presumably if you have a duel boot of windows 7, eg if you had 1 partition set for becoming a VHD via sysprep, and the other partition to be the one you used to package it.

presumably the information for both partitions is stored in the same reserved space?
