You mean the Task Bar disappeared, not the *toolbar*?

There are several possibilities for why. Here's the most likely:

The task bar is resizable, like a window. You may have accidentally

resized it to zero lines high. Put the cursor on the bottom of the

screen and move it up and down slightly until it turns into a

double-headed arrow. Then click and drag it to the size you want.

If that doesn't work, it may be zero lines high on another side of the

screen, so try on all four sides.

Finally, if none of those work, go to

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp\_abc.htm, click T, then under

Taskbar, click Taskbar is Missing.

Hello,

As per description, your issue has been resolved, however you are looking for an alternative solutions.

You may face this issue due to several reasons:

  1. The taskbar may be hiding at the bottom of the screen after being accidentally resized.
  2. If the presentation display was changed, the taskbar may have moved off of the visible screen.
  3. The 'explorer.exe' process may have crashed.

I would suggest you to follow the methods given below and check.

Method 1: Follow the steps given below.

Step 1: Put the mouse pointer on the bottom border of your screen.

  1. If the pointer turns into a double-arrow , click and drag upwards.
  2. If your taskbar isn't hiding at the bottom of the screen, try moving the mouse to the right, left, and top edges, looking for the double-arrow.

Step 2: Press the Windows logo key and the P key on your keyboard to bring up the presentation display mode options.

  1. 1.Make sure "Computer Only" is selected.
  2. Use the arrow keys to toggle between options and Enter to select the correct display mode.

If issue still persists try method 2.

Method 2: System File Checker.

You may run the system file checker tool and check if it helps. SFC scan will scan for the corrupted system files on the computer. You may refer to the following article in order to use System File Checker tool appropriately.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.

Bob Harding hit the nail on the head. I too have never had this problem with Vista. I am extremely fed up with Windows 7. I have no idea why people think this version is so much better ....granted Vista had initial problems, but Win7 is the absolute worse OS I have evern used, and I go back a long way.

Add in the miserable Live Mail program and I wish I had kept my old PC with Vista. Worse part is no one is doing anything about this piece of ****. I am finally looking at Mac....

I am having the same problem. My puppy stepped on my computer so I don't know what happened.

I have Windows 7 and the Taskbar at the bottom, along with the time on the right, and the Windows start Icon have disappeared. I can use the Windows button to pull it up but I dont want to have to do that every time.

I have tried everything from the control panel, to right-clicking properties..lock the taskbar..pin to the task bar. It always stays up for a little while but as soon as I click on the internet window etc. it drops back down. I have googled so many different help websites and NOTHING has worked.
