When I try to use Snipping Tool I get a message stating that "The Snipping Tool is not working on your computer right now. Restart your computer and try again. If the problem persists, contact your system administer."__What can I do to fix this?__Thanks

Further:  I kept digging... and tried the following.

I tried PStools.  No luck importing Reg Key.

Then I ran across a post that suggested that even as Administrator, and even in SafeMode I may not have the needed permission on the specific Reg Key to change it / import the new key.

So, I tried it... but, I didn't have permission to change the permissions... ????!?!??!?!?!?.  GRRRR... so I searched some more.  Didn't find a Windows 10 reference... but I did find a post that got me close enough and I was able to figure out the rest.  I had to change the Owner... which I was able to do.  I changed the Owner to 'Users'... which ultimately this allowed me to import the .reg file.  

YET...  Even after importing the .reg file and restarting... still no Snipping Tool.  I still get:

"The Snipping Tool is not working on your computer right now. Restart your computer and try again. If the problem persists, contact your system administer."

Now what?

No 3rd party.  I really do need the precision of Snipping Tool.  I know there are other 3rd party software... but I've become fond of ST and would rather find a fix to the solution.

It seems to me my registry is the issue.  I have been unable to apply the Registry Fix.  I keep getting: 

"Cannot import XYZ\fix_snip.reg: Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes, or you have insufficient privileges to perform this operation."

Safe Mode, Administrator privileges doesn't allow me to import either.

I have see some posts mentioned where some third party programs have deliberately stopped the taking of screen shots and need to be preferenced checked to allow such an action.  Are you running any third party programs with a video base that might be doing the same type of thing?

This is a clean install of Windows 10 on fresh SSD's.  On my previous computer Windows 7 Snipping Tool was a regular tool I used.  Now... with Win10... I am having a real hard time adjusting ... as it seems ST was something I took for granted, I just used it so much!  HA!

Anyway, I see now my error, relative to this being a Windows 7 Forum.  I missed that in my searching it seems.  The error message is the exact same for me on Window 10.

ST has never worked since the new clean install of Windows 10.
