using windows 7 command prompt, I keep getting media disconnected, how can I get my IP ?

Hi spitfire46,

a) Are you using a desktop or a laptop?

Make sure that the WLAN switch is turned on.

For Windows 7, you may try the following commands.

  1. Click Start
  2. All Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt
  3. Select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following commands, each followed by the Enter key:

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine. This should help.

Later try to get the IP address, you will get it.

    This process also works on Windows 10.  Right click the start menu to access the command prompt in admin mode.

    After the last command is entered there is a slight delay and no reboot is really needed.  Thanks Azeez N!

    I have been through everything already, and my screen tells me an operating system is not found. when I put in the recovery USB drive. I followed all, and it can't fix the problem.went into cmd prompt, and followed everything on the internet, and from Microsoft. typed in from Netsh with everything in it, and ipconfig. with everything in it also and my Med.state is still disconnected and IP routing still not enabled, and Wins. proxy still not enabled. Is there anyone out there who knows anything about these problems,and about computer's it self?I can't even restart my computer or click on anything

    i can't do any of this, because I can't even get into my computer. I even made a recovery USB drive and all of the things in troubleshoot i have followed and still can't get in. and my router wins.proxy and med. is disconnected. help
