ipconfig media disconnected

I have tried all the methods suggested in this thread strictly and I have not solved the problem yet. Someone please help

a) Are you using a desktop or a laptop?

Make sure that the WLAN switch is turned on.

For Windows 7, you may try the following commands.

1. Click Start
2. All Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt
3. Select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following commands, each followed by the Enter key:

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine. This should help.

Later try to get the IP address, you will get it.

Thank you so much for the above information. I was, of course, having the same problem and I am now able to connect. I do have a concern though. When I run ipconfig now it shows the information below. Should it be showing media disconnected in these areas because I do not think it ever showed it before. Thank you for any assistance.

I have been having similar problems. My desktop will connect to my home network both wired and unwired, but not to the internet. In Network and Sharing Centre it showing a continually circling icon and the word 'identifying'. I have tried the command prompts that Azeez suggests, with a wired connection, and restarted my computer, but the situation remains the same. I have also reset the DNS to 8.8.8.8, default 8.8.4.4., but, again, no connection. Should I do an ispconfig either before or after the command prompts suggested here? If not, is there anything else I should try. At present I am considering a full reformat of my hard drive, but want to avoid that if at all possible. Incidentally, the troubleshooter cannot find anything wrong and device manager shows all hardware working properly.

When I did the netsh codes on my desktop, it said (for the ipv6 code) "There's no user specified settings to be reset." The other two codes worked fine. Also the laptop I am currently using was fixed with your solution (using an internat wireless adapter), but my desktop isn't. My desktop is connected wirelessly through a USB Wifi adapter.
